Why gintama is awesome
Gintama had one thing going for it, and that was its excellent dialogues. Sorachi debuted as a manga artist with the one-shot manga Dandelion. It was evaluated highly by accomplished manga artist Masanori Morita, known as the creator of Rookies. Morita had amazing drawing and plotting skills and praised the manga for its unique and exciting lines.
I have only read Gintama in Japanese, so I have no idea what it is like in other languages. Sorachi once said that he read a lot of books when he was a student. This seems quite obvious to me. When I read Gintama, I saw that his lines and plots are unique and interesting because of his accumulated knowledge from reading. Gintama became popular as soon as it was adapted into an anime. The first anime adaptation was the hanami story which was aired at Jump Festa.
As it was well-received, they then created the TV anime series. The series was first directed by Shinji Takamatsu, an experienced director in comedy anime Kochikame and School Rumble. Together with his staff and voice actors, he tried to understand the manga so he could capture its stronger points. It was rumored that Gintama would be broadcast in a late-night slot because it contained a lot of dirty jokes. It was a brave move to air that kind of anime at such an early time.
However, people liked its challenging spirit, and it became a favorite topic of discussion. Its broadcasting schedule has changed several times after the initial broadcasting, but that first slot was one of the reasons the anime got more fans.
No animation; just a funny conversation between Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura. If you are judging a anime. You must watch it full. So let me tell you my experience. As i am following mal for long. I have been seeing Gintama on the top for long.
So i thought of starting the series. For some reason i hoped it would be good enough to entertain me. The beginning are really slow paced and a little boring.
But it really gets to the good part later. Thats what i have experienced. Once you are into the show it gets more entertaining. Clannad first season was good.
But it brought the best part in it's 2nd season. The same goes for Stein's gate. The first 12 ep and the the awesomeness. I am not telling they are bad. They were good. But the amusement i felt after completing them was really awesome and cool more than there beginning. And i also felt a little emptiness after their ending.
These are the same feelings i felt when watching Gintama. The difference is Gintama takes a little long time to get you into it. But after you are into it , you will be really surprised why it's not more popular. Its truly a great show. I still remember i once laughed my ass out so loud that my little bro woke up. And the actions gives you so thrill that you ought to be surprised. Cause its a surprise action. One moment you are laughing , in the nest moment suddenly it gets series.
It also has sad parts. I kinda wanted those parts to be longer. Cause they could make it a lot more emotional. But sadly they just end it in 1 or 2 eps. And it's one of those shows , that when you are once hooked up you can't quit. I really missed it while it ended. Watch it bro. After finishing it you will not regret it. It's truly is awesome. And let me tell you i am not a fan boy or anything.
I just like the show. It's one of my favorite. Not the best. Gintama is like one piece, ur not gonna enjoy it at first, but if you stick to it, u will be obsessed. Because its japanese family guy. Gintama imo is the only anime ever probably that trolling everything, everyone. Even though the early episodes are kinda random and makes us to wonder "what the heck is this? Heck, even popularity polls can be a great anime episode.. Gintama is boring if: 1 You just watch the earlier episodes 2 You didn't watch enough anime There is a lot of elements involved in Gintama.
Its mostly comedy, which is very funny to me. Lots of other anime parodies and trolling, you will find it funny if you get what they refers to. That's why you need to watch 'enough' anime to watch this. It is funny, and at the same time, it touches your heart.
Gintama thought you life lessons. There are more subtle ones scattered throughout the mostly disconnected comedic episodes as well. The Gintama movie deserves one for outselling a lot of anime movies out there! Link is right here. Take note, this is the collectors edition beating the likes of the Disappearance movie , and beyond. Speaking of movies, the live action one was a box office smash in Japan, to the tune of over 3 billion yen, especially for a live adaptation of a manga.
Take note that it was competing in a summer blockbuster slot as well, and won. But not many are built around these moments. Gintama, for the most part definitely is. This anime is completely insane. It's full of random hilarity and antics, while still maintaining a storyline per episode and arcs. You don't even have to worry about fillers, because you won't know when they hit you, as there is no general plot.
Plus, the fillers are just as funny and awesome as the other episodes, if not more. There are tons of references to anime and Japanese culture, which is kind of a down side for a person who isn't familiar with either or both.
This reason also makes this anime almost impossible to dub and very hard to even sub! However, if you do get the jokes and not all of them are reference related , you'll be in tears. It's not all just laughter though. There are definitely some heart touching, throat lump forming, beautiful moments in the anime too though not as much. All I can say is, if you're an anime fan and haven't watched it, you're doing yourself a big crime by missing this one.
As the title says, I not only class this as one of the greatest anime, or even one of the greatest TV shows, but one of the most brilliant pieces of entertainment mankind has ever created. DangerousKush 26 February This anime is great in every aspect. Abdus94 27 June I have only one thing to say, gintama is the greatest anime of all time hands down no other anime can ever reach or if not come close to it's height Gintama is not anime it is life itself it teaches you how important are the people around you and it gives its unique meaning of life if not the perfect one and how it should be lived Forever yorozuya.
I'm just another person here to tell you this show is amazing, though difficult to start. I abandoned it twice, before I got to the point of "Ok, now I see why so many people say this anime is amazing. I don't think the first episodes are actually bad - I think I was the one who wasn't ready to understand and enjoy the show yet.
It certainly gets a lot better and it doesn't take long - but as the story unfolds and amazing plots and jokes come along, there is also an understanding that comes slowly, from which a whole world of subtlety and nuances become accessible. This is what made the show amazing to me. At the same period of time I was watching the first and-something episodes of this show, I was also reading "The Complete Works of Zhuangzi" a famous book from Taoism, that later would mingle with Buddhism in China and, eventually, become Zen Buddhism is Japan.
It was a great combination. The books describes the heart of the philosophy that later would give birth to Zen Buddhism - an important part of the Japanese culture, that helps to better understand the anime - and the anime demonstrates, in modern terms, some of the most sophisticated applications of that philosophy at practice.
Even if it is fictional, it depicts behaviors and situations we can understand and relate to. It has a balance between action, strong plot and great comedy. I've seen hundreds of animes at this point, but nothing truly beats Gintama for me. Epic What can I say more than that the only thing that make laugh And cry and extremely excited best of all time.
You can watch the first 51 in 2x speed after that, you can jump but unnecessary to its major arcs which are awesome and wellcome to the world full of masterpieces.
An anime that suits almost everyone.. The lore is amazing! The character arcs of the main characters as well as the side characters are just as perfect and satisfying. It has the wonderful elements of comedy, sci-fi, action Gintama is one of the funniest anime series which i have seen.
It is really great especially for its time. I know that you cant dub most of the jokes of the seroes but i really wish that it had a dubbed version. So what is that we love about anime? Do you want to laugh until tears. Gintama gonna make you. Want some action?
